Western Riding Stables offers a summer
camp featuring:
¨ Qualified,
experienced adult staff
¨ Safe,
gentle horses
¨ Structured
daily lesson plan
¨ Outdoor
arena
¨ Trails
Campers must be
at least 7 years old, wear comfortable yet correct riding attire (boots
and long pants), and bring water, a snack or lunch. Campers are given
hands-on experience. The goal of the camp is to emphasize safety,
horsemanship and fun. Enrollment is limited to 12 riders per week.
Beginner/Advanced Beginner Program:
Program hours:
Monday—Friday , 8:30 am to 12:30 pm
Our day is
filled with riding as well as horse care and stable management. Students
will learn guidance and control of the horse at the walk and trot.
Learning is primarily through games and group riding. The half-day
program is also ideal for those already enrolled in a lesson program but
want to strengthen their riding and horse care skills. We require
children to wear ASTMF approved helmets. All novices are provided with
“Horsemanship 101” where safety is stressed while mounted and on the
ground.
Intermediate Program:
Program hours:
Monday—Friday, 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
This session is
for campers who have had experience cantering in a group. Each
intermediate session has a theme, culminating in a Friday demonstration.
Riding lessons, lectures and demonstrations and practical experience will
complete the day. For a small fee, we will also provide a videotape of
each student’s riding demonstration.
Proper riding attire is recommended.
